Energy Flows Where Attention Goes | By Kate Leman | PMA Coach

I want to talk a little bit about energy. When I say energy, what do you think?

Do you think about electrical energy?

Or your child or dog running around with a load of energy?

Do you think about the energy food gives you?

I had a conversation with my husband recently about what we think of when someone says energy. We decided that when we hear the word energy, we think about a different kind of energy depending on the context.

Let me explain…

I recently graduated as a Reiki Practitioner and on the evening that I got home after completing the course, my husband and I started talking about whether or not it could be possible for humans to use energy to heal ourselves, and help others to heal.

I never would have considered this a viable option until recently. I’m a level headed, mum of 2, geography teacher. I like testing things and looking for proof and finding a conclusion based on empirical evidence. My husband is an ex-forces, human intelligence cooperative. So we’re pretty matter of fact kind of people!

My sister Charlotte, Founder of Keep Your Head Healthy, has talked about energy, healing and all kinds of weird shit over the years, and she encouraged me to try Reiki. First time I tried it, honestly it was life changing. So I’ve been looking into the power of energy as something we can control to make us feel better or worse about ourselves, others or a situation.

When I bought up the subject with my husband that night, initially the idea was met with a questioning expression, I knew what his face meant and a few years ago I probably would have made the same face...it wasn’t until I ACTUALLY gave it some scientific thought that it was blindingly obvious to me that this ‘energy' I’d heard others talk about is a real thing!!

We, as humans ARE energy right; vibrating molecules giving off a measurable energetic field. We have energy to burn; the food we eat which powers our movement … Therefore if we can harness that energy we could potentially effect our own energetic frequency and that of others around us. An energetic ripple effect if you like. When I said this to my husband a roll of the eyes came my way, fine I thought, let’s talk about this further.

Why do we eat? I asked. “For survival and energy” he said. Correct! If we didn’t eat the right things regularly, we would end up, unhealthy, tired and with a distinct lack of energy. Energy is cursing through our bodies ALL the time. It comes literally from food. And a different kind of energy can come from our thoughts, feelings and attitudes too.

Someone said to me once “energy creates energy”, and that’s absolutely right! If I can’t make it to the gym one day I can feel pretty low for that whole day, and at this time when none of us can go to they gym that’s a really big deal for how some of us feel.

So it’s more important than ever to tune into our ‘energy’ and decide what energy we want to create for ourselves each day. If we start with positivity we will build momentum based on that initial energy that we create.

So now that I cant get to the gym to give myself a positive energetic start to the day, I do My Morning Matters which I spoke and wrote about earlier this week. It includes at least 20 minutes of exercise or a home work out with the videos from Amy Bowley our Personal Trainer here on the Keep Your Head Healthy hub.

Because of creating this energy fro myself through the My Morning Matters routine, I have a bucket load of energy to use throughout the day, and that energy “high” keeps me going for hours!

And because I feel so positive and energised it just keeps feeding itself!!

Have you ever walked into a room and just sensed a certain energy?

Well what is that? What’s actually happening there? That person has manifested a state of energy that exudes outside of themselves and into the room. It’s infectious… in a good way! We pick up on peoples energy, it’s why we say someone is positive or negative or has ‘a good energy about them’. You probably say this or have heard this phrase. As well as noticing it about someone else, we can actually create that for ourselves.

Energy can be manipulated, and when it is, amazing things can happen! There’s an energetic concept called the ‘Law of Attraction’. It suggests that the more positivity you put out into the world, the more positivity you get back.

I have to say that when I first heard some of the examples of Law of Attraction I thought...”yeah right”, but the more I’ve studied energy work, quantum physics, and Reiki I’ve found it to be unequivocally true!! Before I did My Morning Matters each day, I used to wake up feeling negative about how my day started. That negativity would be my general vibe for the day, I would slunk downstairs and feel all sorry for myself about being woken up from my beautiful sleep, and usually that mood would carry on for a good few hours.

Since doing My Morning Matters, focusing on consciously creating a positive state of mind, I have noticed a monumental shift in my WHOLE families energy!! So it’s not just me that benefits, it’s all four of us.

I also have an online health and wellness company, a company that is run by positive energy. The more positivity I put out into the world, and into my business, the more clients I get. It’s undeniable.

Here’s a small change you could make every day to ensure you’re putting out positivity into the world. Enjoy doing that and enjoy it when positive things come back to you!

Positive Perspective:

  • Instead of saying/thinking: “Urgh, its 5:45am, I don’t want to get up”, try saying/thinking “I am so lucky to be up this early to watch the sun rise and hear the birds morning chorus”.

  • Instead of saying/thinking; “This traffic is going to make me late for work”, try using the extra time in the car to listen to a great Audio book or sound cloud.

  • Instead of saying/thinking: “There are no parking spaces near the entrance of the supermarket”, try saying/thinking “Great, this is helping me to get my steps up for the day”.

I promise that by making these simple changes in your thought process, you will start to see the positivity from within also coming at back you! It really is as strange and simple as that! Energy is real, we ARE energy. It can take time to understand and feel the reality of this idea, but I invite you all to try this first simple step in shifting your perspective, to one of positivity no matter what the situation you’re facing is.

Next week we’ll move on to connecting to other kinds of energy and to the energy of the people around you. It’s an amazing feeling, I can’t wait to share those connection techniques with you! Love, light and positive energy as always Kate x
